Artist's Comments

Moretti glass, lots of silver leaf, handmade murrini and lattice cane, and a great deal of patience and heat control.

All these pictures are various views of the same bead.

Original Sea Life beads over here: [link] and here: [link]
Deep Sea Life prototype (with red murrini) is here: [link]

So... which of the various Sea Life beads do you prefer? The lighter ones, or these darker creations? Red murrini or green? :)

EDIT:
Holy cow! A DD! Thank you so much to =Exillior for suggesting me, and ^Kitten-of-Woe for featuring me. I am doing the happy dance all over the house! :boogie:

Thank you also to everyone who faves and comments.

Deep Sea Life II by *Athalour. A collage of many views of a single bead that looks like a tiny view of the sea, using Moretti glass (aka Effetre), silverleaf, and murrini. The suggester wrote, "She works on a miniature scale and I'm simply amazed by how much detail and beauty she's put in such tiny objects!!" (Suggested by =Exillior and Featured by `Kitten-of-Woe)

Thanks for the feedback! I love them both, and can't decide which are my faves.

Murrini are slices of cane used to decorate beads. A better explanation than I can give is over here: [link] , and some nice examples of what they look like is over here: [link]
(The ones I make are a lot more simple, though... ;) )

Yes, they do. Similar method of construction, too, only using hot glass which you can't touch :D

That is absolutely beautiful.
In just one bead, you have put so much and it makes it even more special than just a bead.
Even if you didn't put it in a necklace it would still be incredibly special, and totally fascinating to look at.
