Do you know someone who needs a little love and care? Perhaps a friend is suffering from depression. Maybe someone special to you has lost a spouse, a pet, or a job. Or it could be that one of your colleagues is miserable at work.

Then join my campaign for random acts of kindness.

How does it work?

Send me a note with your nominee’s name (first name only or nickname is fine), and as many (or as few) details of their sorrows as they’d be comfortable with me knowing. (I’m no voyeur, so a brief “they’re having a hard time lately” is fine too.)
Also include your address.

And then what?

Then I will send you one of my handmade glass hearts, on a plug chain, for you to give to them. They can wear it as a reminder that you care. Also as a sign that somewhere in the world, someone they will probably never meet wanted to show them a random act of kindness.

The hearts look something like this:

You can choose one of the following colours for your heart:
Transparent: cobalt blue, medium blue, dark green, light green, pale yellow, amber, purple, pale pink, clear.
Opaque: White, black, dark red, chocolate brown, ivory.

All hearts will be individually made by me in my studio, kiln-annealed, and carry my usual lifetime guarantee against breakage.

Once I have confirmed your order, please allow up to a month for your heart to arrive at your door. If it hasn’t reached you by then, note me.

Ok, Athalour, what’s the catch? What do you want in return?

No catch. You’ll owe me nothing.
However, if you and/or your nominee want to continue spreading random acts of kindness in whatever way you like (perhaps your local animal shelter needs a donation?), I’ll be thrilled.

Why are you doing this?

Because I have been the recipient of much kindness in my life.
Because the world needs more love.
Because it is not enough just to make pretty things, I want those pretty things to mean something.
Because I can.

Last important notes:

For now, there will be five slots available for glass hearts. First five people to note me with requests for hearts, get them. If there is a lot of interest and demand, I will probably consider extending the project.
